GreenLab, located in Skive, Denmark, exemplifies a cutting-edge green and circular industrial park, integrating various renewable energy sources to power local businesses and foster industrial symbiosis.

Renewable Energy Integration: GreenLab harnesses renewable energy, including wind and solar power, to meet the energy requirements of participating companies. The industrial park operates wind turbines with a total capacity of 56 megawatts (MW) and solar energy installations of 24 MW. This renewable energy focus is part of the park's broader strategy to contribute to Denmark's decarbonization efforts and the global push for green transition.
Innovative Energy Distribution and Power-to-X Technology: GreenLab is at the forefront of using innovative energy distribution methods like sector coupling, where electricity is stored in intermediary industries. It is one of the first facilities to implement Power-to-X technology, converting clean energy into transportable forms for use in transportation and industry. A key component of this strategy is a planned large-scale green hydrogen production plant by Green Hydrogen Systems, which will play a crucial role in facilitating Power-to-X operations.
Utilization of Organic Waste and CO²: The park creatively uses organic waste from local farms for the production of jet fuel and food proteins. Additionally, manure serves as a feedstock for biogas facilities. The residual fibers from biogas production are used to produce biochar and pyrolysis-gas. The CO² byproduct from the biogas facility, combined with green hydrogen, is used to produce bio-methanol. Surplus green hydrogen could potentially enhance biogas production.
Circular Economy and Community Engagement: GreenLab's operations are deeply rooted in the principles of the circular economy, leveraging local resources and community engagement. Biomass and residuals from local farms are used for various sustainable purposes, including jet fuel production. The park's holistic approach includes using invasive starfish to produce organic proteins for animal feed and transforming soiled plastic into new products.
Contribution to Local Growth and Global Green Transition: GreenLab's efforts are part of Skive's ambition to address social and demographic challenges while contributing to the global green transition. The industrial park is co-funded by the local municipality and has already created about 100 jobs, with plans to attract more young professionals and contribute to regional
